The Apostille

You can obtain the apostille at the Secretary of State.

Ok a little story about this apostille.

Here you see two documents about a birth-certificate looking almost the same and this is how it happened;

IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER:

You CAN'T get an apostille without the notarized signature on the document. The bureaucrat we dealt with would not accept any document without an apostille.

HELPFUL TIP;

I scanned all my documents e-mailed them and Klaas presented them to the Dutch
official. This is how we learned if the documents would be
accepted when we applied for the marriage license. And make sure you state
'The Netherlands' when you fill out the application for the apostille. I
put Holland and was given 'Certificate of Office', because Holland did not
sign the 1961 treaty....The Netherlands signed it!!!!) This is unacceptable
and everything had to be redone. If I had taken my documents to Holland
with the Cert of Office, we would have been denied a marriage license.
BUMMER!

Ask for a Apostille and say its for The Netherlands..... otherwise Angela or whoever will give you a certificate of office and that's not what You can use in Holland...... and....... CHECK IT....!!!!!!!
