CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Museumplein 19, 1071 DJ AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands
020-5755 331
INFORMATION FOR ALIENS WHO WISH TO IMMIGRATE TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AFTER MARRIAGE TO A UNITED STATES CITIZEN.
If you are married to a United States citizen, you may apply for an immigrant Visa on the basis of this marriage.
Your U.S. citizen spouse has to file a petition on your behalf (form I-130). This can be done at this consulate if you are both residents of our consular district (the Netherlands). Generally an application can be completed within about ten weeks from the filing date. Once the petition is filed and approved by the consular officer, you will receive instructions pertaining to the actual application, i.e. what documents to assemble, the medical examination, etc. The petition may be filed at our office any day, Monday through Friday without an appointment. But only from 8.30 to 11.30 AM. Both of you will have to appear in person and please bring the following:
1. Both your passports, (in lieu of a passport the American may present an original birth certificate and Military ID card) All non-Dutch persons need to submit a Dutch resident permit or military ID card.
2. The original marriage certificate. For marriage performed in the Netherlands the international version of the marriage certificate (Document B) is required. The marriage booklet cannot be accepted.
3. Proof of termination of all previous marriages, if any. E.g. divorce or death certificates. Dutch divorce certificates must be international versions (Doc. B again with divorce date annotated, death certificates Doc. C). All others have to be original versions or certified copies thereof.
All documents not in English or Dutch have to be presented with sworn translations into English.
4. One color picture of each of you, regular Dutch passport photo size, showing 3/4 of the right side of your face, right ear visible (look to the left). The pictures must have a light, preferable white background.
5. The filing fee for the petition is $110,- or the equivalent in Dutch guilders, to be paid in CASH. The consulate is not authorized to accept checks.
Please complete all forms as best you can. (I-130 & one G-325 A form for the petitioner, one G-325 A for the beneficary).
